Transaction Network Services helps B of A promote 2000 Summer Olympics with wireless ATMs

May 13, 2002

RESTON, Va. -- Transaction Network Services, Inc. is providing its TransXpress 3000 wireless ATM product to Bank of America, enabling the bank to operate its ATM terminals during an 18,000 mile cross-country "Down Under Tour" promoting the 2000 Summer Olympic Games.

"For the next nine months, Bank of America and TNS will demonstrate to businesses and consumers that being outside or 'out back' doesn't remove the convenience and security of ATM card usage," said Peter Abowd, Bank of America vice president and manager of ATM Technology Management.

The TransXpress 3000 is part of TNS' family of smart modems that Bank of America is using to support some of its wireless ATMs nationwide. The TransXpress product line is designed to support wireless, ISDN, dial-up and IP communications for ATMs.

TNS joined the tour in San Antonio, Texas, the "Down Under Tour's" 10th stop on a 48-city tour. Free and open to the public, the tour includes a five-story replica of the Sydney Opera House, a 50-foot Olympic Flame tower and an Outback Airlines simulator ride that takes participants on a virtual tour of outback Australia. Aboriginal art, music and demonstrations round out the exhibit, which is attended by 10 Australian ambassadors.
