Malaysian Electronic Payment System Sdn Bhd launched Malaysia's first nonbank ATM late last year. The company's ambitious growth plan calls for 500 installed ATMs by the end of this year and 1,580 units nationwide by 2018.
Transaction Network Services will provide its TNSLink solution to MEPS to handle secure, high-speed transaction transport and ATM communications using advanced encryption algorithms and a PCI DSS-certified backbone network.
The carrier-neutral TNSLink solution includes dual-carrier support for 4G/LTE, 3G and GPRS wireless options to ensure maximum uptime. It works with a wide array of dial, serial and IP ATMs, and supports wired and BYO broadband access methods.
MEPS ATMs support the Malaysian government's Economic Transformation Program and Bank Negara Malaysia's e-payment agenda by offering more than just cash withdrawals and balance enquiries. Customers can also transact real-time interbank transfers, and make credit card and loan payments.
"We are calling this our 'ATM for all' and promising simplicity and security for the convenience of customers," said Zulkanain Kassim, MEPS group managing director. "We selected TNS to support our ATM network because of its global expertise in wireless ATM connectivity, proven service level achievement, and the high standards of security it adheres to through its PCI DSS certification."
