In the early morning hours of Saturday, three men in a moving van attempted to not just rob, but physically remove ATM machines from the drive-thru areas of two banks in Chicago.

The van attempted to take an ATM machine from the Bank of America drive-thru on the Northwest side of Chicago, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.

The thieves placed chains around the machine in an effort to pry open the ATM, but how much money was removed is still being determined.

An hour later, it is believed that most likely the same team attempted to steal another ATM machine from the drive-thru of Chase Manhattan Bank. Again, chains were placed around the machine in an attempt to break open the ATM and gain access to the cash.

Police are investigating both robberies.
