Thief steals debit card at ATM following false offer of aid

A person using an ATM in Westfield, New Jersey reported someone stole their debit card after claiming to help the victim. The perpetrator approached the victim and offered to help them with the ATM, then the thief gave back a fake debit card to the victim and withdrew $2,000 from the victim's account, according to a report by Tapinto Westfield.

The thief left the area after making the fraudulent withdrawal. The investigation is ongoing and a suspect has yet to be identified.
