Theft ring charged with ATM-card compromise broken

TMCnet: Seventeen Tucsonans who bought 4,500 stolen ATM card numbers over the Internet - and withdrew more than $1 million from ATMs - are expected to face federal charges in the United States this fall. At least five of the 17 have pleaded guilty in a related case in the Pima County, Ariz., Superior Court. State and federal court documents in the case suggest the thieves harnessed the Internet to network across continents, recruit new conspirators and evade law enforcement.
