A 34-year-old man was arrested in Dublin in a sting operation and is reportedly connected with organized crime and cyberfraud, according to a Irish Times report.

In Jan. 2020, a financial institution reported 18 ATMs were being used to commit transaction reversal fraud in which funds from legitimate customer accounts are transferred to a cybercriminal. The 18 ATMS were subsequently damaged after the fraud was committed.

Detectives from the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau carried out a sting operation that ended in the arrest of one man who is being detained at Ireland's Store Street Garda Station.

The GNECB said it is continuing to work closely with British police and Europol in targeting criminal organizations engaged in cyber enabled fraud, according to the news report.
