Sumitomo ATMs face system failure in around 50 branches

A system failure caused Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. ATMs at about 50 branches in Japan to go offline. The outage impacted prefectures in Hyogo and Osaka, according to a report by Nippon.

Internet banking was also unavailable for bank accounts at those locations.

Currently there is no timeline for when the ATMs and banking systems will be back up. It is also unconfirmed if a cyberattack was involved.
