Travelers prefer cash, according to Travelex's Travel Money Insights Report. The report found 69% of travelers prefer to use cash when traveling, according to a press release.

The report analyzed Travelex revenue figures and surveyed customers. It found customers travel with cash and card, but generally use cash more in every region. In addition, most purchase cash for travel in advance, only 6% purchase cash on the day of travel.

"Domestic cash transactions may be falling, but in the travel money market, cash firmly remains king. Cash remains vital for small items like tipping and taxis, whilst many travelers have reservations over cards being accepted and potential fees," Philip Bowcock, CEO, Travelex, said in the release.

The report was released in time for Travelex's 50th anniversary as a foreign exchange market at retail locations and ATMs.
