Standard Chartered Bank to implement CR2's BankWorld technology
Dublin, 22nd September 2004 – CR2, a global provider of channel banking, ATM and card payment solutions, today announced that Standard Chartered Bank has selected CR2's market-leading BankWorld solution to manage their ATMs throughout India. This follows a comprehensive evaluation of 5 alternative suppliers.
Standard Chartered Bank India has been a CR2 client for over 10 years, providing ATM and international Visa debit card services to over 700,000 customers across India. The implementation of BankWorld ATM will enable the bank to deliver significantly improved services to its customers over its ATM network.
"Standard Chartered Bank in India has been extremely happy with CR2 as a long term strategic partner, and we now want to offer many more services through the ATM channel in India. With the implementation of BankWorld ATM, customers will now be able to pay bills and top up their mobile phones via the ATM", said Shalini Warrier, Head of Shared Distribution, Consumer Banking, Standard Chartered Bank. "This is particularly ideal for the Indian market as 70% of mobile phone subscribers use the pre-pay service."
BankWorld web-enables the ATM channel allowing companies to offer additional services and brand each ATM. This makes the experience more user friendly as the ATM is eye-catching and has extensive multimedia capabilities. Greater flexibility is provided through remote software distribution facilities and the ability to target specific ATMs or groups of ATMs for remote update of services and screens. The ATM application intelligently determines when and how to apply software or screen changes in order to have minimal impact on the end user.
"The BankWorld switch will also connect Standard Chartered Bank to theCashnetnetwork in India. This means that customers from member banks can use all 3500 ATMs in the network including any of Standard Chartered Bank's 150+ ATMs in India", said Cian Kinsella, CEO of CR2.
