SouthTrust Bank waives ATM fees in areas hit by hurricane

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - SouthTrust Bank is waiving the fees it normally collects when its customers use non-SouthTrust ATMs has in areas affected by Hurricane Charley.

According to a news release, the bank is also allowing customers to make early withdrawals from existing certificates of deposit with no penalty and offering several special loan packages to help customers rebuild their homes and businesses.

The ATM offer is good in the Florida cities of Ft. Myers, Orlando, Lakeland, Daytona, Tampa, and Sarasota. The release did not say how long the benefit would last.

SouthTrust Corporation, a $52.9 billion regional bank holding company headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., operates 736 banking and loan offices and 890 ATMs in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
