Software license tool for ATMs, savings banks released by Wincor Nixdorf

January 7, 2009

FRANKFURT, Germany — Wincor Nixdorf AG has released a software-license-management tool from Prosystems IT.

According to a news release, the Prosystems tool is designed for savings banks, ensuring that installed system software is licensed and tuned to company needs and complies with software standards. In particular, Prosystems IT helps savings banks avoid procuring too many or too few software licenses.

In May 2008, the Business Software Alliance reported that some 27 percent of the software used in Germany today is illegal, though most copyright breaches are not willful. Nonetheless, board members or executive managers of a company using illegally acquired software are legally liable.

Prosystems' tool provides saving banks with an overview and greater transparency of the software licenses they already own. Licenses are managed centrally and their existence is documented.

Prosystems IT is a member of the Wincor Nixdorf Group and specializes in delivery of IT services to the Savings Bank Financial Group. Its portfolio covers operation of the local IT infrastructure, from networks and IT workstations to telecommunications systems.
