SmartMetric Inc., a biometric solutions provider, has introduced a biometric credit card that features a fingerprint reader that can scan a user's fingerprint in less than a second. Whenever the customer uses the card, it compares the customer's fingerprint with the pre-stored fingerprint, according to a press release.
The card has an internal power source to perform the fingerprint scan prior to being inserted in a reader, which allows customers to use it at ATMs or at restaurants.
"When developing the SmartMetric biometric card, we were particularly aware that for its adoption by card issuing Banks and consumers, the card would need to work in all real-life situations in which the public uses cards today," Chaya Hendrick, president and CEO, SmartMetric, said in the release.
