SmartMetric delivers biometric technology for debit, credit cards

SmartMetric Inc. has introduced its biometric activated credit/debit card, which uses a fingerprint activated dual interface that can be used at card readers and ATMs, according to a press release.

The card's internal battery scans the customer's fingerprint prior to insertion into a POS or ATM, and then draws power from the card reader to recharge the card's internal battery. With contactless readers, the SmartMetric card harvests power from the RFID electronic field to recharge.
