Market Drayton, a quiet little town in Shropshire County, England, with a population just under 12,000 has been named ninth among the top 10 cities in the country for ATM thefts or robberies.
According to a report by the Shropshire Star, 1 in 693 individuals using the town's cash machines becomes the target of a thief.
Per capita, the town's ATMs are more dangerous to use than those in the far larger cities of Birmingham, London and Manchester.
The report did not explain why Market Drayton ATMs were so prone to cash thefts.
The No. 1 English town for ATM thefts was Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, population approximately 33,500, where 1 in 415 ATM users are targeted for theft, the report said.
