A report at channelnewsasia.com said that Singapore drivers soon will be able to top up their NETs CashCard at garage-exit ATMs.
The NETS CashCard is a stored value smart card offered by payments and financial processing provider NETs. The card can be used for quick payment of charges such as parking fees, as well as for retail purchases. Currently about 800,000 NETs cards are in circulation in Singapore.
NETS said its new payment option may be used only when the driver's cash card is short of funds to pay for parking. In such a case, the cardholder simply uses their NETS ATM card at a terminal at the garage exit to top up their cash card or to pay the parking fee outright.
"What we're doing is to give [cardholders] greater convenience so that they have other options," said Ang Sok Hong, NETS vice president of sales and partnership.
