Serbia joins EAST

Serbia's new representatives to the European ATM Security Team include payment card issuers, acquirers, and third-party processors.

April 28, 2015

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia has joined the European ATM Security Team as the National Member for Serbia, according to an announcement from EAST.

CCIS will be represented at EAST by its "Forum for the Prevention of Card Fraud." Although EAST is focused on the Single Euro Payments Area, CCIS will participate as a non-SEPA member, as do several other European nations (see sidebar).

Forum members from Serbia are payment card issuers and acquirers, as well as representatives from third-party processors. All deal with numerous brands such as VISA, MasterCard, AmEx, Diners Club/Discover and DinaCard. One unique characteristic of the forum is that, in addition to the private sector representatives, it also includes representatives from the public prosecutor's office, police departments, and the National Bank of Serbia.

EAST has national representation from 26 SEPA nations, and continues to seek national representatives from Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia. EAST also includes five non-SEPA nations and seeks to establish links with parties in any country that is able to share national incident and loss statistics for ATM related fraud and physical attacks.
