SECU, a Maryland-based credit union, has launched its third annual Kindness Connects, a kindess campaign that runs through October. It aims to deliver 250,000 acts of kindness, one for each of its members, according to a press release.
SECU will provide a Kindness Kit to its employees, members and partners, which comes with ideas and items for kind acts such as postcards, flower seeds and stickers. Individuals can request a Kindness Kit online, download a virtual kit or pick up a kit at an SEC Financial Center. For every kit requested, the SEC MD foundation will donate $5 to a maximum of $50,000 to Special Olympics Maryland and Kennedy Krieger Institution, which helps improve the lives of people with neurological, rehabilitative or development needs.
"Since launching our first Kindness Campaign three years ago, we have seen the transformative impact that kindness can have on our communities," Becky Smith, EVP and chief strategy and growth officer for SECU and president of the SECU MD Foundation, said in the release. "Although often unseen or uncelebrated, kindness is what brings us together and can have a long-lasting impact."
