SECU, the largest state-chartered credit union in Maryland, has launched its fourth annual Kindness Campaign, which aims to inspire 500,000 acts of kindness among individuals and partners in the state. It also worked with state officials to declare October as Kindness Month, according to a press release.

"The Moore-Miller Administration is proud to officially proclaim October as Kindness Month in Maryland," Gov. Wes Moore said in the release. "By partnering with local nonprofit organizations, SECU and their team of dedicated employees are working to make a positive impact in our state by promoting service and goodwill in our communities."

The credit union has already worked on multiple efforts including a food drive in September, its Annual Day of Kindness on Oct. 9, and is working with a variety of partners including Special Olympics of Maryland, Kennedy Krieger Institute and more.

"SECU is honored to stand alongside our esteemed partners, Special Olympics of Maryland and Kennedy Krieger Institute, in their inspiring commitment to each foster over 10,000 acts of kindness throughout October," Becky Smith, EVP and CRO, SECU, said in the release. "Kindness is a force that quietly unites us and leaves an enduring mark on our communities. We're proud to be partners in this incredible movement."
