SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Schlumberger has unveiled an advanced Java card technology known as Cyberflex Access that combines multiple application and cryptography features for a relatively new area of the smart card market, the IT (information technology) security arena.
Company officials said the card supports IT services, such as digital signature, authentication and authorization, with application security features, such as secure remote Java Card applet loading using digital signatures.
The new card technology allows issues and developers to implement smart card-based programs using Java technology in environments where high levels of IT security are needed.
Schlumberger also has launched the Cyberflex Development Kit with a series of utilities for developing, testing and loading programs into the Cyberflex environment.
