SBI 'No Queue' mobile app aims to end wait lines

A new virtual queuing application from the State Bank of India lets customers book an instant queue ticket for selected services at selected branches.

When you live in a bustling nation where the ratio of ATMs to adults is 1.8:10,000, waiting on line to get cash can be a serious time-suck.

Last week, India's largest bank launched a mobile app to help its customers reclaim time that otherwise would be lost to queuing, according to a press release from the FI.

State Bank of India has rolled out "No Queue," a mobile-based virtual queuing application that allows customers to book an instant "Q-ticket" reserving a place in line for selected services at selected branches.

The customer begins by selecting the type of service needed from a menu in the app. This brings up a list of branches located within a radius of 15 kilometers (about 9.3 miles) of the customer that provide the desired service.

The customer then selects a location based on information provided within the app, including expected wait times, the number of customers waiting, and the distance to the branch from the point of booking.

Upon arrival at the selected branch, the customer simply activates his or her Q-ticket and is serviced immediately, thus avoiding a lengthy wait, the release said.
