Saudi Arabian ATM withdrawals rise during Ramadan

SAUDI ARABIA - The volume of ATM withdrawals in Saudi Arabia during the holy month of Ramadan and the Eid holiday is expected to exceed 18 billion riyals ($4.8 billion U.S.), Al Riyadhnewspaper reported.

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) said total withdrawals in September reached  17.6 billion riyals through 12.9 million ATM transactions and 14.5 million branch transactions.

ATM withdrawals during the month reached 7.1 billion riyals ($1.8 billion U.S.), while branch withdrawals reached 10.5 billion riyals ($2.8 billion U.S)

According to SAMA, Saudi Arabian banks have 1,210 branches and 3,458 ATMs.
