S2 Systems supports A98 key management system

January 18, 2004

DALLAS - S2 Systems, a provider of transaction processing software, is in a joint initiative with Trusted Security Solutions (TSS) to help its OpeN/2 customers meet industry requirements for unique keys at ATMs and Triple DES encryption.

S2 Systems has created an interface which allows OpeN/2 users to implement Trusted Security's A98 product. S2's OpeN/2 A98 interface enables customers to update the keys in the database to correspond to the A98 keys established at the ATM by entering the cryptogram and key check value for an ATM.

TSS President Dennis "Abe" Abraham said in a news release that no ATM changes or host application software changes are needed to use the A98 product.

"Our support for A98 enables OpeN/2 customers to fast-track compliance with network standards while protecting existing investments and simplifying what otherwise would be an arduous, costly process," said Stephen Clark, president and chief executive of S2 Systems.

According to the release, A98 also provides a cost effective migration to remote keying of ATMs using public key cryptography. The upcoming A98-R remote key module implements both the certificate-based protocol used by Diebold ATMs and the signature-based protocol used by NCR ATMs.

S2 Systems' OpeN/2 A98 interface is in production and is available to new and existing customers.
