JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - South Africans will soon be able to access voter registration information via First National Bank (FNB) ATMs.
FNB, in conjunction with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), is making the information available on its ATMs throughout the country, free of charge. Residents will not have to be a bank cardholder or an FNB customer to access the information, according to an allAfrica.com report.
"By entering their identity number onto any FNB ATM, the voters will be able to access their voter registration information, which will be displayed on the ATM screen," said Mike Arnold, FNB's chief executive of Self Service Channels. "As a proudly South African financial institution, FNB believes it is our responsibility to assist voters to access this information as easily as possible."
South Africans can also access the information via the Internet by using the Independent Electoral Commission's Web site. Vodacom and MTN subscribers also can access the information via their cellphones.
