Qatar National Bank, in cooperation with mobile provider Indostat and other well-known FIs in the Middle East, has launched a mobile money ATM card in Indonesia, CNN Indonesia reports.
According to the report, the mobile money ATM card — Indonesia's first — is integrated with Dompetku, the electronic money service (i.e., mobile wallet) of telecom provider Indosat.
Customers simply use their mobile number as their bank account number. This number also connects them to the country's ATM Bersama network, the report said.
"This will provide benefits to customers, particularly to ease the withdrawal of cash," said Indostat President, director and CEO Alexander Rusli.
The ATM cards can also be used to pay for public services such as the commuter line, and they are also accepted by retailers that include Alfamart, Indomart and 7-Eleven.
