PSINet switches to Postilion platform for processing in the UK

LONDON -- Mosaic Software (UK) Ltd will supply its Postilion EFT switching product to PSINet Processing Solutions, a PSINet Transaction Solutions company, to replace an existing ON/2 system in a phased implementation. PSINet Processing Solutions is the one of the UK's largest ATM outsourcing processors, driving terminals for numerous financial institutions in the UK and Ireland, including the FTS and Cashere networks. PSINet provides gateways to the Visa, Europay and LINK networks are provided, and processes and switches transactions from 3,000 POS terminals. In all, PSINet Processing Solutions provides transaction processing services to 35 clients. PSINet has been using Postilion for some of their services, including APACS30 and APACS40 POS processing, over the last year. The new deal will see the rest of their EFT processing services migrated to Postilion. The project has already begun, with migration phases slated to take place throughout the year. Postilion provides switching and authorization functionality on a Windows NT platform, including support for traditional customer channels such as ATMs, POS terminals and various interchanges, as well as newer channels including WAP, SMS and the Internet. Postilion also provides switching functionality for prepaid transactions, as well as support for EMV smart card processing. The PSINet Processing Solutions project will give Mosaic its largest UK Postilion site to date. Willem van Biljon, group CEO of Mosaic Software, noted that PSINet's ON/2 system is often mentioned as the world's most complex switching system on an ON/2 Stratus platform. "We have shown them that we can more than meet their requirements. We are proud to be able to demonstrate the pedigree of Mosaic and the Postilion product in a very exciting project for us." International clients using Postilion include: Retail Decisions (UK), Calypso (Canada), Deutsche Post (Germany), 7-Eleven (US), American Express (US) and InnoVentry (US).
