'Prominent Indian bank' opts for Datacard card issuance technology

March 19, 2013

Datacard Group, a provider of secure ID and card personalization solutions, has announced that the company's Datacard MX1100 card issuance system has been implemented at a prominent bank in India as an in-house central card issuance setup.

In-Solutions Global Private Ltd. — a third-party service and solutions provider who works with the bank — selected Datacard Group based on its end-to-end card issuance solutions and module configuration.

"We chose Datacard Group for their world-class card personalization products, which seamlessly integrate with our solutions and provide the bank unmatched technology for their card personalization solution," said Adelia Castelino, managing director of In-Solutions.

The bank will use the MX1100 system to produce and personalize cards for various payments schemes including Visa, MasterCard and RuPay card — the Indian domestic card payment network. The system's module configuration includes magstripe and dual chip encoding, front graphics and photo printing, topcoat, embossing and indenting.

"Right now, only about 50 percent of the 1.2 billion people have bank accounts in India, and there is a significant opportunity for the unbanked population to receive cards that can work with RuPay," said Rajiv Singh, managing director of Datacard India Pvt. Ltd. "Given the card personalization capabilities that we are able to provide this bank, In-Solutions has a great opportunity to capitalize on the increasing needs to offer personalized cards to the Indian market."
