Prepaid card transactions will grow from $2.3 trillion in 2021 to $4.1 trillion in 2026, according to a study from Juniper Research. These transactions also will be more than 50% higher than contactless payments by 2026, according to a press release.
These cards will help the unbanked access digital payments and will provide prepaid card platforms fee revenues of more than $32 billion by 2026.
"Tools such as restricted authorization and digital issuance will enable prepaid cards to benefit from the evolution of traditional gift cards into full-blown prepaid cards, driving significant revenue," Nick Maynard, research author, Juniper Research, said in the release.
