Possibly the best story in the world, ever, about cash

July 6, 2016

It all began with a date night destination that only accepted cash.

"The kids went to grandma's on Friday night, so we wanted to go to dinner," said Emily Lange of Eagan, Minnesota, a Twin Cities suburb.

However, the restaurant where Emily and her husband, Luke, wanted to eat didn't take plastic "and all we had was a $100 bill," Emily said.

The couple stopped at a SuperAmerica gas station where they bought gas and four lottery tickets to break the bill.

They did not discover until the following morning that one of the tickets they'd purchased was worth $1 million, a press release from the Minnesota lottery said.

"The last couple of days I've been saying, 'Pinch me! Is it real?'" Luke told lottery officials.

It was. And it was all because of cash.
