New York police have arrested six men for allegedly stealing ATMs from 19 stores in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx over a seven month period. They used a police scanner, van and bolt cutters to access and steal the ATMs and cash registers, according to a report by NY Daily News.
Jesus Cedeno and Angel Barbosa used police scanners to check for officers responding to calls regarding their break-ins. Police arrested Barbosa for having a police scanner on Oct. 26 and arrested him again in November when they found him with two stolen ATMs.
Police later arrested the rest of the crew when they allegedly tried to rob a small store. They are face a 92-count indictment for a variety of crimes from June 2022 to January 2023.
