Policard, Datablink partner for secure ATM, online access

The Datablink Mobile 200 app lets customers use a smartphone to create a secure out-of-band connection with a financial institution to confirm their identity and transactions.

Brazilian payments processor Policard has called on Datablink Inc., a provider of authentication and transaction signing solutions, to strengthen security for customers' ATM, debit and credit card transactions via the Datablink Mobile 200 app.

More than 10,000 Policard customers who receive government and employer electronic payments or other benefits will use the app, which provides a simple, secure method of accessing Policard online accounts, according to a press release.

The app was designed to prevent unauthorized access and fraudulent online transactions stemming from threats such as stolen static passwords and social engineering attacks, Datablink said.

Rather than requiring a user to physically enter a code into a device to generate a one-time password, Datablink Mobile 200 lets customers use their smartphone to create a secure out-of-band connection with the back end of a financial institution and confirm their identity and transactions.

Brazil's Banco24Horas interbank network has implemented the Datablink Management API in partnership with Policard in order to allow customers to use the Datablink 200 mobile app to enhance security for physical ATM transactions.

"Policard and its thousands of users will be further empowered to help maintain their security and easily approve access and transactions – fighting off cyber thieves in a way that truly prevents fraud," said Datablink President and CEO Shlomi Yanai.
