People's United Bank to close 18 branches in Connecticut

People's United Bank will close 18 branches across Connecticut between now and April. Most of the closings will be in the Hartford area. 

The closings, part of the regional lender's effort to reduce annual costs by $88 million pre-tax, follow the its recent $759 million acquisition of Hartford-based United Bank. In fact, all of the soon-to-be closed branches were part of United Bank, according to a report in the Hartford Business Journal. 

The list of Connecticut branches that are closing include: 

  • Bristol 888, Farmington Ave.
  • Enfield Big Y, 65 Palomba Dr.
  • Glastonbury, 1009 Hebron Ave.
  • Greenwich, 415 Greenwich Ave.
  • South Windsor, 161 Nevers Rd.
  • Southington, 158 N Main St.
  • Waterford, 124B Boston Post Rd.
  • West Hartford, 102 Lasalle Rd.
