Cushmir McBride, a Pennsylvanian man has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for detonating explosives inside multiple ATMs at a Target, Wells Fargo branch and Wawa stores. He was indicted in April 2021 with Nasser McFall and Kamas Thompson for being part of a ring that stole more than $400,000 from ATMs in Philadelphia in the aftermath of protests over the death of Walter Wallace Jr. who was killed by police in 2020, according to a report by USA Today.
The men used a variety of explosive devices ranging from M-80 to M-1000, which are usually hard cardboard tubes filled with explosive material.
"These devices carry enough explosives to cause serious bodily injury and in certain cases death," Joseph Mangoni , special agent for the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, wrote in McBride's indictment. "The devices are not legally manufactured, sold, or imported in the United States and are classified as Illegal Explosive Devices under federal law."
McFall was sentenced to 6 and a half years in prison and Thompson is awaiting sentencing.
