PenFed Credit Union, established in 1935 as the U.S. War Department credit union, recently announced the opening of its new "state-of-the-art" branch in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
In a press release, Michele Hart, PenFed VP of branch operations, said that the new branch incorporates the same advanced systems introduced earlier at a new Florida facility.
"Thanks to modern concepts like interactive member-teller cash recycler kiosks and an innovative open floor plan design, high volume doesn't mean long waits because the staff is able to keep the transactions flowing smoothly," Hart said.
Additionally, the release said, locating the Puerto Rico branch at an off-base shopping center simplifies access for nonmilitary members who must obtain visitor center clearance in order to use the CU's Fort Buchanan branch.
"The new branch is a huge plus in terms of enhancing the PenFed member experience in Puerto Rico," said Kevyn Myers, EVP and COO at PenFed. "The location is key — still convenient to Fort Buchanan, yet fully accessible to all members, regardless of military status."
