TOKYO -- Tokai Bank and Daiwa Bank will be among more than 113 financial institutions that will on Jan. 18 link their ATM networks to ATMs operated by the postal savings system, according to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun.
Of 24,000 postal savings ATMs across Japan, 17,000 will offer online financial services in cooperation with private-sector financial institutions. The number will increase to 21,000 ATMs by the end of March.
As of Nov. 30, 829 private financial institutions had filed applications with the ministry to become part of the postal savings system's network.
