OneUnited Bank, the largest Black owned bank in the U.S. will purchase a non-fungible token that honors the entertainer and civil rights activist Josephine Baker. Artist Addonis Parker created the NFT, which is part of the From Paris With Love collection, according to a press release.
Baker was born in 1906 and was the first Black woman to become a famous entertainer around the world, while also being a wartime spy, hero and civil rights activist. She spoke at the March on Washington alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Josephine Baker's civil rights activism is an inspiration," Teri Williams, president and COO of OneUnited Bank, said in the release. "We are proud to honor her legacy and build the new Black Wall Street."
