The creation of an ATM advertising council will be one of the primary orders of business at Winning with Off-premise ATMs, the ATM Industry Associations inaugural conference.by Ann All, editor

February 7, 2001

Lyle Elias, president of the ATM Industry Association, believes that the ATMIA's first-ever conference at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Orlando, Fla. will be of special interest to anyone interested in the future of ATM advertising. Though the conference, Winning with Off-premise ATMs, will include a strong lineup of speakers and an exhibit hall filled with prominent industry names, Elias said he is more excited about the formation of a council devoted to fostering and promoting ATM advertising as a profit center for off-premise ATMs. He added, We're encouraging anyone interested in offering input or becoming part of the council to attend. Elias, ATMIA Executive Director Shelley Kinslow and co-founder Tom Harper envision a council that will include members from all areas of the industry: manufacturers, ISOs, data processors, financial institutions and ATM advertising specialists, like brandATM and InterActive Touch Marketing (iATM). They're also hoping to attract interest from traditional areas of the advertising industry. That kind of participation has been a missing element in earlier efforts to promote ATM advertising, said Elias, president of Hurst, Texas-based manufacturer Greenlink Technologies. We hope to get some representatives from advertising industry associations to act as liaisons between the council and their respective organizations. Noting that the development of the council is still in its early stages, Elias said he hopes the conference will provide an ideal forum for the exchange of ideas. We'd like to get input on how the council should be structured, who should participate and what its agenda should be. Elias said ATMIA members and other interested parties are encouraged to attend an informational meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, just before the conference officially kicks off with an evening cocktail reception in the exhibit hall. The lineup of speakers on Feb. 24 includes: Ernest Burdette, president of Triton Systems, Inc., offering the keynote, An Overview of Off-premise Deployment; Albert Metzler, vice president of ATM Business Support for Bank One, speaking on Bank One's Off-premise Strategies and Steve Pidgeon and Matt McClellan of Union Federal Savings Bank, discussing Creating and Profiting from Off-premise Advertising Programs. Also, Jon Thomas of Access Cash International speaking on Banks and ISOs Working Together; Elias, commenting on Multimedia Dispensing in an Off-premise Environment and Chris Klein, former senior vice president of ATM Systems for BankAtlantic and now vice president of marketing for Mosaic Software, discussing Refining the Off-premise Network. The day will wrap up with a theme event sponsored by NCR. On Feb. 25, speakers will include: Neal Schwartz, NCR's vice president of ATM Solutions for Retail Locations, offering an ATM Off-premise Technology Overview; EFT attorney David Bartone commenting on the State of the Surcharge and Randy Stratton, vice president of Electronic Cash Management, discussing Increasing Profits Through Better Cash Management. For more information on the conference or to register online: Click here ATMIA members will receive $200 off the standard attendance fee of $750 if they register by Feb. 1, 2000. The fee includes all conference sessions, exhibits and special events; plus all conference materials, breakfasts, lunch, coffee breaks and theme event.
