NYCE reports record volume on Dec. 24

January 16, 2000

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J.-- The NYCE Network announced that an all-time one-day volume record was set on Dec. 24, 1999, as consumers used their ATM cards more than 3 million times that day. All of the transactions were performed by consumers who used cards with the NYCE logo along with PINs for getting cash and balances at ATMs and for making purchases at retailer locations. POS transactions accounted for nearly half of the total, with more than 1.4 million counted. This number is representative of the significant increase NYCE has seen in its POS volume, which has grown more than 30 percent over last year. Significant NYCE Network volumes were also reached on Dec. 31, 1999, as consumers rang in the New Year by using their ATM cards more than 2.7 million times.
