October 14, 2009
Westbury, N.Y.-based Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) announced today a partnership with mFoundry to offer its more than 130,000 members a mobile-banking solution that will feature text messaging, mobile Web and application technology.
According to a news release from mFoundry, the solution will allow NEFCU members to securely check account balances, search transaction history, transfer money and pay bills from their mobile devices. MFoundry says support also will be provided for a native iPhone and iPod touch application distributed through the Apple iTunes App Store.
Michael Egan, NEFCU's executive vice president and COO, says the credit union recognized a demand for mobile technology among its evolving member base:
Mobile banking provides us with the opportunity to further meet the demands of our changing marketplace; we are hopeful that it will be particularly compelling to young adults. We have engaged in a very deliberate research and development process, and we are delighted that it has yielded the full array of mobile access for our members.
MFoundry says the initial phase of NEFCU's mobile services has begun, and the technology will be fully available in the first quarter of 2010.
