Northwest Bancshares appoints CEO

Northwest Banchshares Inc. and Northwest Bank have announced that Louis J. Torchio will serve as president and CEO of both companies. Torchio previously served as SVP of retail lending and business banking, according to a press release.

Prior to joining Northwest Torchio served in a number of roles at Bank One and Mellon Bank.

William W. Harvey Jr., who served as interim president and CEO after Ronald J. Seiffert, former CEO and president, passed away on May 24, will take over as COO and CFO.

"I'm humbled and honored to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of Northwest Bank," Torchio said in the release. "I'm looking forward to collaborating with colleagues across the bank as we continue our pursuit of excellence for our customers and our team members in every aspect of our organization and work to maximize shareholder return as we remain mindful of our risk profile in an ever-changing economic environment."
