The town of Bailey, North Carolina may be getting a free- standing ATM, but it all comes down to what the people want. The town will hold a public hearing next month to determine if there are any concerns or objections with placing a standalone ATM at the corner of a parking lot within the town. The ATM would be near a former PNC bank building which has been sold but is currently being used as food truck site.
Walter Wells, chairman of the town planning board, made the recommendation for the ATM at the town board’s monthly meeting. Wells also suggested that the town draft an ordinance covering ATM structures in the event the same situation should ever come up again in the future. According to Wells as part of the ordinance, if an ATM is inactive for more than 90 days it would be removed.
“The ATM would be in the right front corner of the parking lot in a well-lit, open area,” said Wells said.
The public hearing is set for June 8.
