National Business Review: Ross Anderson, managing director of New Zealand finance company QuickCash Finance Ltd, is seeking a court injunction against the government-owned Kiwibank to stop Kiwibank using the brand "quickcash" on its ATMs.
Anderson said QuickCash Finance Ltd has used the name and artwork QuickCash in its marketing since the company was established six years ago. It is also the company's registered domain name and Web site address.
It is "ironic" that Kiwibank, which portrays itself as the little guy battling for fairness in a field of giant competitors, would stoop to ripping off the trademark of a "small-town finance company," Anderson said.
"The similarity in print style, wording and coloring are far too great for Kiwibank's use of my company's QuickCash to have happened by chance," he said. "I find it quite unacceptable and very unprofessional that they've done this."
