New ATM gets rid of envelopes

The Miami Herald:New ATMs that let customers deposit checks and cash without an envelope are popping up at Bank of America Corp. sites. The Charlotte-based bank has quietly installed 15 machines at branches and stand-alone locations in a test-run of the new technology. Later this year the bank plans to expand outside Charlotte with about 100 machines before a broad rollout starting next year.

BofA, the nation's No. 2 bank, has nearly 17,000 ATMs.
