The bitcoin network saw an average of 488,206 new addresses on a daily basis in the first half of 2021, despite high volatility, according to data from the Blockchain Centre.

January 2021 had the highest number of average addresses at 551,132 per day, while June saw only 370,269 per day.

"Privacy reasons, together with the ever-increasing adoption rate of decentralized finance, are the main forces behind the surprising number of new bitcoin addresses," Tadas Maurukas, CEO of Blockchain Centre, said in the release.
