Rumors that the company is for sale notwithstanding, NCR Corp. reports that it is making progress and remains on schedule with plans to open a new world headquarters campus in midtown Atlanta by late 2017 or early 2018.
NCR, Invest Atlanta and Cousins Properties have closed on the incentive agreements, and Cousins on the acquisition of land, an NCR press release said. Additionally, NCR and Cousins entered into a long-term, build-to-suit lease for the new campus facility, which will be owned and developed by Cousins.
NCR Chairman and CEO Bill Nuti said that the company hopes to lead the way in creating a 'Silicon Valley of the East' in Atlanta. "We are currently, and will continue, advocating for other tech leaders and innovative companies to follow our lead," Nuti said.
According to Cousins Properties President and CEO Larry Gellerstedt, the 485,000 square foot NCR tower will be an iconic addition to the Midtown skyline. "NCR's commitment to locating their world headquarters in Midtown further validates the strength of Atlanta's technology corridor," he said.
The new midtown campus will physically position NCR amid "rich innovation centers and leading academic institutions," the company said. NCR plans to establish a second campus in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, to be completed within roughly the same timeframe.
