The World Council of Credit Unions is receiving a donation of 40,000 masks from the National Credit Union of Korea.

The masks will be distributed to more than 30 different countries to protect credit union employees and their customers from COVID-19, according to a press release.

NACUFOK president and CEO Younsik Kim, who serves as the head of the WOCCU COVID-19 Response Committee, led the effort to purchase the masks.

"There is no greater challenge facing our global credit union community in 2020 than the COVID-19 pandemic," World Council President and CEO Brian Branch said in the release. "One of the inspiring things about being part of the global credit union system is that when a crisis happens, credit union systems around the world instinctively step up to assist those affected."

Branch consulted with partners worldwide to identify credit unions in dire need of personal protective equipment and the World Council staff repackaged the masks for shipment. Project Storm Break, the Worldwide Foundation's disaster relief program, helped fun the cost of shipping.
