Mumbai-based Zicom Electonic Security Systems Ltd. has contracted to provide e-surveillance architecture serving 6,000 bank-owned ATM locations, with contracts with additional financial institutions to be finalized soon, according to a report.
According to managing director Pramoud V. Rao, installations will include multiple CCTVs and sensors — including motion and thermal sensors — as well as alarms and communication systems. All devices will be monitored remotely from the company's command center.
At a press conference, Rao said that heightened security has been made necessary by an increase in physical attacks on ATMs, and that all of India's 200,000 ATMs probably will migrate to new security systems within four years.
