Mobile banking services continue to offer links to ATM

June 21, 2011

The Jakarta Post reports that Bank International Indonesia (BII) yesterday launched a mobile banking service, providing services such as account management, funds transfer, reloading pre-paid cell phone accounts and bill and online shopping payments. BII customers can use the service to transfer funds to more than 80 banks connected to ATM Bersama, ALTO and Prima networks.

Service is available through SMS, SIM Application Toolkit, USSD Menu Browser (UMB) and a Java applet for BlackBerrys, with access also available through Nokia smartphones. Applications for Android phones and the iPhone are not currently available.

Similarly, according to Lanka Business Online, Sri Lanka's Commercial Bank will expand mobile phone banking services to include funds transfer and the ability to check the status of deposited checks. Users will also be able to pay utility bills and reload their prepaid mobile accounts. The bank plans to introduce more additions to the mobile banking service in the near future.

"These will include services enabling customers to remit funds, block lost or stolen cards, order bank statements and checkbooks, get information on the status of deposited checks and access Commercial Bank's ATM and branch locator," according to a statement from the bank.
