Michigan City police arrest 2 for connection with ATM crime organization

Michigan City, Indiana police arrested two individuals suspected to be part of a criminal organization targeting ATMs across the U.S. Florin Vaduva was preliminarily charged with possession of false government identification, while Loredana Vaduva was charged with nine felony theft warrants from Colorado, Minnesota and Wisconsin, according to a report by the La Porte County Herald-Dispatch.

Police discovered that Florin and Loredana were connected to a group that would place skimmers on ATMs to steal card holder's data. They are also under suspicion of defrauding financial institutions of more than $500,000. Police used the Flock Falcon camera system to identify the suspect's vehicle.

Florin is out of jail on a $1,500 bond while Loredana is awaiting extradition.

"The city's Flock Falcon Safety Camera and Raven gunshot detection systems have aided in the arrests of numerous offenders, solved a plethora of investigations, increased response times and continues to benefit the city of Michigan City in combating crime," the MCPD said in a statement.
