Metris to issue new card on Discover Network

MINNETONKA, Minn. - Metris Companies Inc. will launch a new credit card on the Discover Network, according to a deal announced in a Sept. 19 news release between Metris and Discover Financial Services LLC.

The card will be issued by Metris subsidiary Direct Merchants Credit Card Bank, N.A. The card is expected to be available to customers by the end of 2005.

"We believe this kind of brand diversification is another positive step toward fulfilling our company's growth plans."
