Metavante certifies NCR's no-envelope ATM deposit technology

June 2, 2004

DAYTON, Ohio - Metavante Corporation, the financial technology subsidiary of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation (NYSE: MI) has certified NCR Corporation's (NYSE: NCR) "no-envelope" deposit technology for ATMs.

Certifications into each individual network are required any time a new function is added to the ATM.

Specifically, Metavante has certified NCR's bunch-note acceptor component and iTRAN 1000 check-processing module. The ability to offer check imaging at the ATM relies on this hardware. Imaging capability is becoming more important as financial institutions prepare to comply with the Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act and the subsequent check truncation and image-exchange environment.

In February of this year, Metavante also certified NCR's latest release of its APTRA Edge software that drives advanced functionality for the ATM channel

According to a news release, Metavante recently demonstrated NCR's imaging and deposit-taking capabilities to more than 1,100 people representing more than 300 financial institutions at the Metavante Client Conference in Milwaukee.

Frank D'Angelo, executive vice president and group executive of Metavante's Electronic Funds Group, said, "More and more financial institutions are reviewing their deposit-taking functions and discovering the self-service channel offers great advantages. With NCR's assistance, we are ready to deliver a complete image solution for the ATM channel."

Metavante currently manages approximately 9,000 ATMs across the United States.
